Treat yourself to the gift of a beautiful-looking smile with composite bonding.

This popular process for smile enhancement is a much-loved treatment by many of our patients.

Your introduction to Composite Bonding

Breakdown: careful placement of composite resin to improve the shape of the teeth and the appearance of chips, cracks, and gaps.

Life Benefits: enhancement of your smile, resulting in improved confidence. Composite resins are available in a variety of shades and are carefully matched to your teeth, creating a natural appearance.

Appointments: from 1-2 appointments. More appointments may be required depending on complexity.

What is Composite Bonding?

Composite bonding uses composite resin carefully matched to your tooth shade to improve the appearance of your front teeth.

Composite bonding involves the following steps:

  • Examination and Treatment Planning
An in-depth examination of your teeth is performed to ensure your teeth are not suffering from decay or gum disease prior to treatment. We may take photographs to assess your smile fully and allow for a thorough treatment plan. We may also take records of the teeth to create a ‘trial smile’, which allows you to visualise the final result, as well as assess your bite and speech. You and your dentist will select a shade of composite resin that matches your natural tooth shade for treatment.
  • Composite Placement
Composite resin is carefully placed piece by piece to address the smile imperfections you wish to improve. A visible blue light is used to set the composite in place.
  • Finishing Touches
Your teeth are polished to give a beautiful tooth-like shine that mirrors real tooth enamel. This can take 1-2 visits to complete. Your teeth will be polished immediately after composite placement, and final touches and secondary polishing are carried out 2 weeks later as this allows the composite to reach its full hardness.

FAQs

Why Should I Choose Composite Bonding For Smile Enhancement?

Versatile – Addresses Many Imperfections
Composite bonding is different for everyone – it really depends on what you want to change about your teeth. Whether you’ve got a chipped tooth, you want to whiten a darkened tooth, or you have a gap or misshapen tooth, composite bonding may be suitable! Your dentist will advise you of suitable options to improve your smile.

Minimally Invasive
In the majority of cases, no anaesthetic is needed to perform your treatment, nor any drilling. This makes treatment well suited to patients who want to improve their teeth but without any invasive processes along the way.
